Today, Sägewerk Hagensieker has visited Kallesøe to take a view of the high frequency plant that will soon be transported to the sawmill in Bad Ellen-Wehrendorf be part of the production of frame wood made of thermo treated beech.
There is currently great sales potential in thermowood. Relatively light and inexpensive woods like beech may come to resemble tropical wood, with its deep and beautiful glow, and at the same time the wood gets even harder than before the process – but still light. The thermo treatment turns the wood more stable and more resistant to fungal attack.
Usually, it is more complicated to glue thermowood as thermowood absorbs water and water based glues but very slowly. Over a longer period of time, Martin Hagensieker and Bruno Kallesøe have tested a large variety of glues and they have finally succeeded in finding a glue that works perfectly on thermowood AND exposed to high frequency heat at the same time. Normally a cold pressing cycle takes from 2 to 2½ hours, whereas in a high frequency plant the processing time is reduced significantly.
For Hagensieker there is no doubt that the capacity of his sawmill is significantly improved when the high frequency plant enters into production soon.
